The grand opening of the 10-th anniversary festival Red Fox Elbrus Race 2018

Yesterday, May 5, the opening ceremony of the 10-th annual international festival of extreme sports Red Fox Elbrus Race took place. About 500 athletes, both professional and amateur take part in an exciting program of the festival.

The opening ceremony began with a welcome speech by the head of the local administration of the Elbrus Municipal District, Kansaubiy Zalikhanov.

Then, the festival's ideological inspirers, the general director of Red Fox Alexander Glushkovsky and the director of the company Vladislav Moroz, who spoke about key moments of the festival‘s history, gave a welcoming speech.

This year Red Fox Elbrus Race again broke the record for the number of represented countries. Athletes from Russia, Austria, Andorra, Belarus, Bulgaria, Great Britain, Germany, Spain, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Macedonia, Mongolia, Poland, Slovenia, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Finland, Czech Republic, Switzerland and the United States take part in the competitions.

The Deputy Minister of Sports of the Kabardino-Balkaria Aslan Anayev also made a speech at the opening ceremony.

Two famous record-breakers of the festival Vitaly Shkel and Oksana Stefanishina (Inov-8 Team Russia), who repeatedly rose to the podium of Red Fox Elbrus Race, solemnly raised the flag of the Russian Federation.

The deserved participants of the Red Fox Elbrus Race also rose on the stage: Sergei Kolyshev, who didn’t miss a single festival, as well as the most age-old participant (82 years old) - Mark Bashmakov.

The winners and prize-winners of the first competitions were also awarded at the opening ceremony. The Vertical Kilometer, that took place the morning before ceremony, is the first start in the discipline of skyranning. At the moment, this race is the most "high" Vertical kilometer in the world! On May 2, for the first time in the 10-years history of the festival, the Russian Elbrus Ski Monsters Expedition Race expedition took place!
